A Translation Project Report Of A Blueprint For Corporate Governance(Chapter One To Chapter Three)

This is a project report on translation of the first three chapters, Corporate Governance:An Overview, The Governance Structure of American Corporations and Markets:Can You Trust Them, selected from A Blueprint for Corporate Governance, which is written by the American writer, Fred R. Kaen. This part mainly introduces the development of modern corporate, the governance structure of American corporations and financial markets efficiency.It is a difficult translation process for the author because of economic terms, long sentences and economic knowledge. Based on the functional equivalence theory, the author finally finishes the translation. During the translation, the author reads many economic materials; looks the economic terms up in the professional economic dictionaries; and reorganizes the long sentences in Chinese. The solutions will be discussed in detail in the paper. Through the practice, the author realized that solid theoretical basis, various translation skills, sufficient knowledge reserves and excellent writing ability are the requisite qualifications for a qualified translator.This project report consists of four parts:the first part gives a brief introduction to the project, including its origin, significance, and structure; the second part is the introduction to the background of the source text, including its author, edition, and main contents; the third part is about quality control, including the major problems in translation, a brief introduction to the functional equivalence theory, and translation skills used to solve the problems; the fourth part is a conclusion of the experience, lessons, and enlightenment during the translation process, and points out unresolved problems.
