A Case Study Of Interpreting Of Chinese Female Artists’ Charity Art Exhibition

With the continuing integration of world cultures and the frequent exchange between countries, the status of interpreter is becoming more and more important. Although liaison interpreting is of less concern than simultaneous interpreting and conference interpreting, it is one of the most common modes of interpreting in daily communication. In liaison interpreting, as the only bilingual person and cultural mediator, the interpreter should not only guarantee interpreting quality but also lubricate the process of human communication. Thus, more stringent requirements are proposed to the interpreters who should have a comprehensive ability.This report based on an interpreting practice the author attended in Chinese Female Artists’ Charity Art Exhibition. As the interpreter, the author helped Mr. Chris to communicate with other people. By analyzing the problems the author met with in the whole process, she summarized some solutions through which the roles of interpreters could be explored. The body of the report is divided into four parts:Chapter One is a brief introduction of the project; Chapter Two introduces the process of preparation and interpretation; Chapter Three discusses the applications of turn-taking rules in the whole interpreting practice and analyses the multiple roles of interpreters; Chapter Four is interpreting revelation, the author combines her experience with relevant research and discusses the quality and ability an interpreter should acquire.
