The Comparative Study On Letter Poetic Image Of Tang And Song Dynasty

This thesis is a study of the letter poetic images in Tang and Song Dynasty’s poems. Divided into three main chapters, it makes a comparison of the letter images’ appearance between Tang and Song’s poems.The first part of exordium introduces relevant studies in this field. The second part is the elaboration of the letter images’ origin, definition and names.Tang and Song Dynasty’s letter images are separately discussed in the first and the second chapter, each categorized into three part:letters from family, friends and lovers, focusing on the letter images’ meaning, emotional content and artistic characteristic. Then, on the basis of the former parts, the third chapter makes a comparative study on the letter images’ names, artistic characteristics and emotional contents of Tang and Song Dynasty.The last chapter is the conclusion of letter poetic image, including its particular meaning in human-related images and the complementary role it played in the comparison study of Tang and Song’s poetry.
