Mu Dan was an important poet in the history of Chinese poetry. In his poetry, the variable use of the’Personal’was an obvious phenomenon. So, analyzing the structural change of the Personal in Mu Dan’s poetry as well as the transformation of its subject consciousness is an effective way to understand his poetry deeply. If we put his poetry back to the special context of the 20th century in China and reflect the reading method which place Mu Dan’s poetry in the framework of modernity, we will have a better understanding of his works. According his creative process, the history of Mu Dan’s poetry is divided into three stages:during the years 1937-1942,the use of the Person was relatively complex, which means that he tried to change to’We’ from ’T’; during the years 1942-1948,’We’, the plural pronouns, was increased, and emphasized the Others above the Person, such as war, daily lives and so on.In the same time; in 1957 and 1976,the personal pronoun was relatively simple, only’You’ and ’I’, but the Others transformed to the politic and the death. In a nutshell, Mu Dan as the lyrical subject had a desire of transforming to’We’from ’I’, but eventually returned to the individual. Thus, we can figure out the position of Mu Dan in different eras and the enlightenment he brought to the contemporary poets.
