A Study On The System Of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions’ Components

The dissertation has chosen the forms included in the New Compilation of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions as research materials. The feasible standard has been set to divide and confirm that there are 860 components of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions. The forms of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions including the information of groups and bibliography has been combined to those components in a database to build a relatively complete System of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions’ Components and have a deep understand of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions character-composing conditions. With the statistics of the Frequency of Composing Characters and observation of the forms, the dissertation has made the analysis of its changing charactenristics, including Simplifying in late period; Inheriting early period; Complicating in early period. There are also three reasons for the irregular change of componets:The instability of carving; The different styles of carving; The structure of the character the components composed. The research in the dissertation might make a little compemsation for the study on the Oracle-Bone Inscriptions’Components, determine the concept of components, confirm the division standards and get the statistics on the number and frequency of compnents. With teasing the System of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions’Components, as well as the group and source information, the rough evalution process of components could be told and the development of Chinese characters could be clearer.
