The Wellspring Of Regular Script Created By Zhao Mengfu And The Spread Of Calligraphy In The Yuan Dynasty

Zhao Mengfu,born in Wuxing, Zhejiang Province, was a distinguished calligrapher in Chinese art history. Zhao has a remarkable talent in poems, painting, music, as well as the identification of the artifacts. As the leader of the retro-agitation during the Yuan dynasty, his influence was so impressive that no one else in the Yuan dynasty could touch him.This paper briefly studied of the wellspring of regular script created by Zhao and the spread of calligraphy in the Yuan dynasty. First of all, the author studied the related calligraphy inscription and statistics on the literature, explored his educational background and work style changes in the different historical periods,Tang dynasty calligraphers and the model method of regular script in the early of Tang dynasty is the sources of regular script in small characters of Zhao.Dating from this two sources,we can conclude that the formation of regular script in small characters is by the path of borrow from Tang dynasty and go after Jin dynasty".Depending on these causes,he finally take shape his own personal style.. And then, with the help of clues about his social activities, carved stone rubbings in the Yuan dynasty, and even the calligraphy and painting trading, the paper analyzed the spread of Zhao’s calligraphy work in the Yuan dynasty. Thus concluded that calligraphy of Zhao all can have such a profound effect, depends on its widespread dissemination way.
