| This translation project is based on the Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition, written by T Collin Campbell and published by BenBella Books, in which chapter one and two are chosen for translation and analysis. On the basis of his previous best-selling book, the author continues to emphasize current misunderstandings about nutrition and benefits of the whole food, plant-based diet. The structure of the project is divided as follows: Chapter One makes a brief introduction to the translation project, including background and significance of the project. Chapter Two mainly introduces background information about the Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition, such as the main content o the translated part, and a brief analysis about the source text in terms of its structure and features. Chapter Three generalizes difficulties consisting of dealing with long complex sentences and the title of the book and illustrates the methods employed in translation, including amplification, conversion and restructuring. Chapter Four summarizes lessons learned from the translation process and lists the primary and urgent problems to be solved. |
