Operational Status Quo Of The Confucius Institute And The Future Direction Of Sichuan Normal University-Yonsei University

Along with the rise of ‘Fervor in Learning Chinese’, the government increases the input on the career of Chinese International Education. Currently Confucius Institutions and Classrooms have been established in most countries and regions. Sichuan Normal University, where the author attends, also successfully cooperated with Yonsei University in South Korea to set up a Confucius Institution on November, 2013. During the year after establishment, although the Yonsei Confucius Institution operated normally in rough terms, some problems arose in specific process of implementation. In addition, as one of the top universities in the world, Yonsei University requires high standards for all rounds, while Sichuan Normal University is in the first rank among domestic normal universities however there still are difficulties in certain aspects to carry out work. Based on the relevant works the author participated directly or indirectly in Yonsei Confucius Institution’s operation, this article starts with the current situation of Yonsei Confucius Institution, then conducts the research in certain degree and proceeds analysis on the teaching subjects, teachers, and textbooks, etc. The purpose of this article is to put forward suggestions which could be beneficial for the Yonsei Confucius Institution’s operation and helpful for Sichuan Normal University to make the improvement on abroad assignment, logistical support for overseas students from Confucius Institution, and then comes up with enlightenments for Chinese International Education.
