As the inner drive for people to pursue success, achievement motivation directly affect people’s ways of thinking and behavior.Family is the starting point of social development process, different father’parenting styles have different influence on individuals’ achievement motivation.This thesis uses The Go/No-Go Association Test(GNAT) and some scales to measure the implicit achievement motivation and explicit achievement motivation of 147 college students. On the basis of the existed researches, this study attempt to explore the feasibility of GNAT when used to measure subjects’ implicit achievement motivation, and preliminarily survey the characteristics of college students’ implicit achievement motivation.What’smore, AMS is used to measure college students’ explicit achievement motivation, trying to explore the connection between the implicit achievement motivation and the explicit achievement motivation.Further more, EMBU is used to measure the subjects’ father’parenting styles, exploring the relationship between father’parenting style and achievement motivation. In this study, we measured the 147 college students who came from Hebei Normal University and Hebei University of Engineering, the conclusions of this study are as follow:Study One:there is a significant effect on college students’ implicit achievement motivation and the application of GNAT is feasible for measuring implicit achievement motivation;there isn’t any significant difference on college students’ implicit achievement motivation between different grades and genders.Study Two:there is a significant grade difference on college students’ explicit achievement motivation,the senior students have significantly higher scores of achievement motivation and success motivation than the freshmen;significant difference is exist between different genders,there is a significant difference on college students’ explicit achievement motivation scores and success motivation scores between the different genders:Male college students have significantly higher scores of achievement motivation and success motivation than the female college students;the implicit achievement motivation and explicit achievement motivation are two separate motivational systems,there is no relevant.Study Three:there is no significant correlation between father’parenting style and implicit achievement motivation;there is a significant correlation between explicit achievement motivation and father’parenting style: explicit achievement motivation scores is significantly positive correlated with father’swarmth, explicit achievement motivation of college students’ scores is significantly negative correlation with father’s punishment and refusal;the explicit achievement motivation of college students’ scores is able to be predicted by father’s warmth,punishment and refusal.Through this study, we confirm that it is reasonable and necessary to explore achievement motivation through an implicit view. There is a significant implicit effect on college students’ achievement motivation, and we also figure out that the implicit achievement motivation and explicit achievement motivation of college students are two independent parts. This is helpful to understand the achievement motivation through a more comprehensive way, and making up the one-sidedness that only study achievement motivation from the perspective way. we try to use GNAT program to explore the implicit achievement motivation for the first time, its validity has been proved, and showed the advantage of using GNAT to measure the implicit achievement motivation when compared with IAT.In addition, the Study Three help us know more about how father’parenting style affect college students’ achievement motivation. It can give parents advice and inspirations about how to help their children to have a high level of achievement motivation,and help the counseling practitioners to help their visitors.
