A Practice Report On Interpretations For Foreign Clients Visiting Huaming Candle Factory

In this interpreting practice report, I mainly describe one interpreting task about foreign clients visiting Huaming Candle Factory.Huaming Candle Factory is a foreign trade company which exports the candle. Current customers are mainly from South American, Southeast Asian and African Countries. This time, foreign clients are designed to visit the candle production workshop, company scale, and sign a long-term cooperation contract. As an interpreter, I am responsible for the reception and communication, promoting the communication between the manager and foreign clients more smoothly. The paper mainly analyzes the preparation, process description of the interpretation, the application of translation theory, as well as practical experience summary. Business Interpretation, as a professional language service, should not only meet the needs of customers and the industry, but also has its own features and translation skills.There are six chapters in this practice report. Chapter one is the introduction of this interpretation task, including its background, introduction of the client,and requirements of the client. The second chapter illustrates pre-interpreting preparations, which not only include preparations, but also introduce the related technical support. The third chapter is about characteristics of the business interpreting and quality requirements for interpreters. The forth chapter presents interpreting process, consisting of implementation of the interpretation plan and coping strategies of emergency. And it also analyzes the role of the interpreter in business negotiation and post-interpreting issues. The fifth chapter is about cases study which simply introduces Verschueren’s adaptation theory and analyzes its application in the practice. The sixth chapter summarizes the interpretation practice, including the importance of pre-interpreting preparations and elicitation for the future study and work.
