Firstly, we pick up the grapheme of Chinese characters from the rubbing collation which selected from the book of "Collection of the Great Wall Stele of Ming Dynasty in Hebei Province", and build the “Collection of the Great Wall Stele Characters of Ming Dynasty in Hebei Province” according to the order in Shuo-wen chieh-tzu /Shuowen Jiezi/ Analytical Dictionary of C haracters Language. Based on the “Collection of the Great Wall Stele Characters of Ming Dynasty in Hebei Province”, we give a comprehensive analysis of the grapheme and its development from the perspective of individual character, components and stroke in Ming Dynasty. Then, summarize the basic types and characteristics of variant C hinese characters in Ming Dynasty. Finally, based on the above analysis, conclude the basic characteristics and causes of Chinese characters in Ming Dynasty.This thesis includes four chapters: The first chapter introduces the significance and feasibility of the topic,gives a full introduction of the research status of stele character,and explains the research content and research method of this thesis. The second chapter describes the configuration model and planar structure layout of Chinese characters in Ming dynasty. It gives an overview of Chinese characters from the grapheme structure of this period. And then, from the component level analyze the variation of Chinese characters, and explore its characteristics. At last, describes basic stroke system and stroke variation of Chinese characters during this period. In the third chapter, it summarized the main types and characteristics of variant C hinese characters during this period. The fourth chapter sums up the basic characteristics and causes of C hinese characters from the perspectives of individual character, component, and stroke, variant. The last chapter is the main conclusions of the thesis.
