The Great Wall is one of the most ancient and representative historical heritages in China. The Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty was the largest built and preserved part of it. Moreover, the government in the Ming Dynasty paid more attention to the Great Wall of Datong Town and rebuilt and repaired many times. This is because Datong Town was very important place for nomads of north march into the central place of China at that time. By doing local research and analyzing the previous literatures, this article will present some information about the outside material and construction method of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty in Datong Town, and explain why Datong Town, as one of the "Nine Towns" in Ming dynasty, plays a significant role in military, history, economy and culture.According to data and previous literatures analyzing, the result show the Great Wall in Datong Town was mainly made from rammed earth. This article will mainly analyze the structure and building method of the Great Wall in Datong Town, including the walls, the enemy towers and beacon towers. The most important part is the method of the use of rammed earth in the Great Wall.Datong Town, as one of the "Nine Towns" in Ming dynasty, played an important role in military and national defense according to the policy that the government used. The build of the Great Wall in Ming dynasty was always linked together with ’Nine Towns". After the middle of Ming dynasty, the relationship between Ming and Mongolia was released. Many communications and trade activities were started between the people in the central place the north, which enhanced the mix of nations.The last section of this article will analyze the outside material and structure of the Great Wall in Datong Town, briefly summarized the technical features and preservation conditions of it. Then try to give some proposals.
