Practice Report On The Translation Of Specification For Itare Dam Water Supply Project

With the deepening of the reform and opening up, our country has had closer exchanges and cooperation with other countries. Especially, with the increase of the overseas engineering projects of our country’s companies in recent years, there have been a growing number of engineering translations which have been playing an increasingly significant role.This practice report is based on the writer’s translation of Chapter 8 of Specification for Itare Dam Water Supply Project. Analysis is made on the translation. The report includes four parts-- the translation task description, the process description, the case analysis and the conclusion. Focus is on the translation of vocabulary and sentences. Analysis is made on the problems and specific solutions concerning with the translation of engineering vocabulary, long English sentences and the passive voice English sentences. And corresponding discussions are made on the solutions to the similar problems. The unsolved problems are also presented and the writer’s plan of translation learning and practice is shown.Hopefully, this report may be helpful for such translation.
