Donglaishushuo is a book which expounds about Shangshu. It was Lv Zuqian’s handouts in the old-style private school that reflecting his thoughts about Confucian classics. The edition which is called Zhengxiu donglaishushuo today was modified by Shi Lan. The 18 articles ranging from Luogao to Qinshi were written by Lv Zuqian. According to the 18 articles and the handouts,Shi Lan completed the book.Comparing the transcript of Donglaishushuo by Yan Xiuneng(which is stored in Nanjing Library now.) and some sentences quoted from Shushuo in Shangshujingyi by Huang Lun with Donglaishushuo could help us know more about the original edition and the changing of Shushuo. The distinctive characteristic about Lv Zuqian’s interpretation of Shangshu is the glosses not confined in Shangshuzhengyi, it has the typical meaning that he explained the book in such a new way in Southern Song Dynasty. The book reflects Lv Zuqian’s thoughts about the interpretation of Confucian classics. He explained Shangshuo on the basis of its preface and in a way of explaining as the interpreters in Song Dynasty. He built a social idea that setting Yao, Shun and Yu era as a model and the ideal personality that behave as a sage.Lv’s Shushuo takes argumentation for specialty, that is why the later scholars who are not satisfied about Kongzhuan which was considered too simple and feel difficult to tell real edition from fake one often cited Lv’s ideas. Thus we can see Shushuo has a widespread influence.Besides,he founded the private school which was named Lize and taught the students all over China. As a result, Shushuo was more widely spread which contributed to the development of “Wu School” and “Zhe School” and it has a profound influence on the thoughts and the society.
