| Sight interpretation training has been an essential part of the interpretation teaching, but at present, most sight interpretation training classes are still strategy-focused and teacher-centered. Since the attentions of student interpreters cannot be focused all the time in class, the actual performance of student interpreters in the practice couldn’t meet with the expectations of sight interpretation trainings. Therefore, the current sight interpretation training methods still need to be improved. The noticing hypothesis of the second language learning is mainly applied to English teaching so far, and this thesis introduced it into English-Chinese sight interpretation training. Through consciously improving their noticing, the student interpreters are expected to continuously stimulate and gradually activate their language automaticity mechanism.This experiment adopted a set of practice-focused and student-centered conscious noticing training methods for English-Chinese sight interpretation, which combined problems together with strategies. Through the experiment of implementing these methods in the English-Chinese sight interpretation class, the records of the student interpreters in the pre-test and the post-test were collected, transcribed, categorized and analyzed, and the tables of the experiment data and report of analyzing the data were formed. Then the conscious noticing training methods were found to be helpful for enhancing the language automaticity levels of the student interpreters, and improving the fluency and accuracy of student interpreters during English-Chinese sight interpretation. One possible way of estimating the recommended theoretical training hours for each student interpreter was also provided. Finally, the thesis summarized the major findings of the study and the implications for E-C sight interpretation training and teaching, and explained the limitations of the study and the recommendations for future researches. |
