A Translation Project Report Of Diagnosing Corruption In Ethiopia By Janelle Plummer

This is a translation project report on chapter two of Diagnosing Corruption in Ethiopia. The book consists of eight chapters, and it mainly elaborates on the corruption in all sectors in Ethiopia including heath sector, education sector, justice sector and so on. Chapter two is about the most common forms of health sector corruption in Ethiopia, and it also notes that recent developments, including the sector’s expansion and rising expenditures, could increase the risk of corruption in the future, particularly in the followings: public financial management, human resources and pharmaceuticals. To address these risks, the author gives the recommendations of how to prevent corruption. In the process of the translation, difficulties lie in words translation and long sentences translation, and to deal with it, different translation methods are employed such as: embedding, cutting, recasting and so on so as to represent the culture of source language to its full extent. The report is divided into four parts: Part One is an introduction to the translation report which covers the background, objective, significance and structure of the project. Part Two is the analysis of the original text, including the introduction to the author, content and analysis of the text type. Part Three is the difficulties in translation and the translation theory and methods adopted. Part Four is a summary of the translation experience and the problems that needs to be solved.
