Language etiquette is an important research object of communicative linguistics,which also gains widespread attention in sociolinguistics, pragmatics, culturallinguistics and other linguistic fields. It is divided into a variety of scenes with aspecific theme, the specific communicative functions and grammar, semantic, rhetoricattributes. And the choice and use of language etiquette are closely related to thecommunicative roles of the actors in the process of communication, including theidentity, the gender, the age of the speaker and the hearer, as well as whether thecommunicative scene is formal or informal.New Russian linguistic phenomena have emerged in an endless stream after thedisintegration of the Soviet Union. When it comes to language etiquette, it is not anexception. As salutations, greetings and farewells play an important role in theRussian language etiquette system, and the characteristics and changes of the Russianlanguage etiquette have reflected most apparently in these three scenarios, therefore,this thesis will mainly probe into these three forms of language.This thesis first reviews relevant theories concerning language etiquette, andanalyzes and interprets the definition, functions and attributes of language etiquette.Then, according to the functions and semantic features, it classifies Russiansalutations, greetings and farewells. Finally, based on the texts in both traditionalmass media and network, the thesis illustrates the changes of Russian salutations,greetings and farewells since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, especially thechanges ever since the21stcentury. Besides, this thesis also tries to analyze thereasons for the changes and to predict its overall developing trend from the emergingnew phenomena. Meanwhile, I hope this thesis could contribute to the Russianlanguage teaching and linguistic practices of Russian learners in China.
