| Medical devices, very special goods, should be taken good care of in itsmanufacture, package and shipment, therefore, the agreements, subsidiaryagreements or contracts deserve much attention and careful handling in casethey are to be translated.The cases in the report are all selected from a vocational practice in thesummer of2014, which is an English-Chinese translation of agreementsappended to business contracts of medical devices. Under the guidance of thetheory of functional equivalence by Eugene A. Nida and “faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance†by a Chinese scholar, Yan Fu, the report focuseson the emphases of the translation of the agreements and solutions throughdescribing the whole translation process, and is concluded with a summary ofand reflection on the experience obtained and the weaknesses to be avoided.The report consists of five chapters. Chapter1is an introduction. Theproject and the company concerned are introduced in Chapter2with details.Chapter3is about the whole translation process, including preparation,emphases and solutions in process and the quality control of the translation.Chapter4states the case analyses. The last chapter is a summary of thefeedback and assessment of the customers and the experience and weaknessesof the translation project. |
