Learning strategies are complex behaviors, which are related to thelearning process and used consciously by learners for effective learning.Learning Chinese as a second language is affected by the use of learningstrategies. The importance of learning strategies is obvious. Meanwhile, individual factors also influence the use of Chinese learning strategies, such as level, learning environment, gender, age, etc.Through questionnaire, which is designed according to Oxford’sSILL and the specific situations, Chinese learners of Shanghai Jiao TongUniversity in China and Heidelberg University in Germany, we usedSPSS to analyze the data from quantitative perspective in order to findout whether the use of Chinese learning strategies are affected by level, learning environment, gender, age, whether the students are ethnicChinese or not and whether they are from Chinese character culturalcircle or not. It came to three conclusions:1) in the target languageenvironment, level is not the significant factor that affected the use of Chinese learning strategies, but in the non-target language environment, level becomes the significant factor that affected the use of Chineselearning strategies;2) the use of social strategies differs typically indifferent learning environments, different ages and ethnic and non-ethnicprimary Chinese learners; Whether from the "Chinese cultural circle" is asignificant factor that affected the use of compensation strategies;3)gender is not the significant factors that affected the use of learningstrategies by primary Chinese learners.
