Among the three main elements of a language, phonetics, vocabulary and grammar, vocabulary is irreplaceable as it functions as the construction material. As an important component of the second language acquisition, Chinese vocabulary-learning strategies have already obtained a wide range of attention and been extensively studied. However, so far we have not determined the results of the reports on Chinese vocabulary-learning strategies aiming at Chilean learners. Therefore this thesis is based on the previous theories. We have taken some students of IC(University of Santo Tomas) as research objects, undertaking multiple perspective analysis and research, and we have tried to draw a scientific conclusion, which can provide effective strategies and improve the vocabulary study situation for Chilean learners from it.This thesis consists of six parts:The first part explains purposes of the very research, and introduces the research methods. It indicates that currently learning of Chinese has gained growing popularity in Chile, however, the Chinese vocabulary study still lacks scientific instruction.The second part mainly clarified the train of thought of the research by listing and carding the previous theories of the second language acquisition and vocabulary-learning, revealing the current study situation and deficiencies.The third part specifically explains the investigation process. This paper group 34 specific vocabulary-learning strategies into 21 level-2 items, using Likert-type scale questionnaire to investigate the usage situation, meanwhile, we tested the Chinese vocabulary capacity of them, and then we withdraw the questionnaires to analyze.The fourth part is the analysis results of the investigation. This paper used SPSS21 to multi-perspectively (gender, age, motivation intensity, vocabulary ability) analyze the data we collected. We have adopted various methods, such as descriptive statistics analysis, independent sample t-test, multiple comparison, Pearson coefficent, to make every effort to get the effective vocabulary learning strategies of Chilean learners.The fifth part sums up the problems and suggestions. Facing problems existing with Chilean learners such as lacking advanced strategies instruction, over-relying single-style strategies and the fear of difficulties, we should strengthen the training system of vocabulary-learning strategies, and establish a complete vocabulary teaching system, therefore to improve the current condition.The last part draws a conclusion of this paper and some limitation of the research are given for further study.
