Abstract/Summary:
This report is based on the translation of the first chapter of Wood in Construction. Thebook mainly tells the types, qualities, manufacture and application of the wood inconstruction and many of the famous wooden structure buildings. Among all these contents,the first chapter, Wood in Construction, gives a general introduction of the wood inconstruction, making it relatively easier for the translation, especially for the translation of thevocabulary in the field of Wood and Construction.As we all know, English of science and technology is English for special purpose (ESP).In the translating process, the theory of Non-Literary Translation by Professor Li Changshuanwas applied and the linguistic features and translation methods and techniques of Wood andConstruction English were studied and made use of.There are three parts in this report. They are task description of the translation of Wood inConstruction, the translation process description (translation methods and techniques and caseanalysis) and conclusion. All in all, the report covers the current situation and an analysis ofwood in construction at home and abroad, the detailed translation of the source text and thestudy of the linguistic features and translation methods and techniques of wood inconstruction. Hopefully, this report will be useful for anyone who is interested in this field.
