An E-C Translation Report On2012&2013Pingyao International Photography Festival

Having been successfully held for13sessions, Pingyao International Photography Festival (PIP) had attracted more than30,000photographers and curators at home and abroad to participate, and with150,000various styles of photography works on show, it had appealed over1,600,000viewers coming to the ancient city to enjoy the artistic festival. The statements and introductions of the foreign photographers and their works should be translated into Chinese before PIP and posted beside the pictures during the exhibition. In addition, various communication programs like Floor Talk, Open Class, etc need interpreters to bridge the gap between the eastern and western people. I was honored to participate in2012&2013PIP as an English translator and this report is mainly based on my translation practice and100,000words of translation work.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the PIP translation has a clear intention, that is to meet the need of the viewers. The target texts should be honest to the original ones, and at the same time accurate, fluent and without losing the style of the original ones, most of the time, it means the words should keep artistic and attractive.This report first gave the project background, description and purposes in Chapter One and literature review in Chapter Two and then came to the task description in Chapter Three which involved preparation, process, and quality control of translation and other things after the translation. Then it attached much importance to the translation strategies in Chapter Four and then the findings and discussion in Chapter Five.
