The relationship between rhetoric and logic is an important question concernedby language and logic scholars. Theoretically Analyzing logic of rhetoricphenomenon is an important part of language logic study.Rhetoric is the process in which we adjust and process language materials toimprove the expressing effect of language. Logic is the science of form and law ofthought, its purpose is to make it better for people to think correctly and deeply.Abstract thinking must depend on language to express, rhetoric can improve theexpressing effect of language and make logic thinking content expressed moreflexibly, visually and richly. Language must rely on thinking in order to play its role.Thinking is correct or not determines language expression is accurate or not. Positiverhetoric can be divided into two types of deep layer rhetoric and surface layer rhetoric.Surface layer rhetoric refers to that the exterior and internal meanings of discourse arecompletely consistent, receivers can understand logic content directly from thesurface, the expression of it conforms to logic and grammar rules. Deep layer rhetoricrefers to that the exterior and internal meanings of discourse are not consistent,understanding of the words cannot be according to the surface meaning. The surfaceform of it often violates logic and grammar rules, but because the words of variationrhetoric conform to the situation, can improve the effect of expression, so theybecome “unreasonable but wonderful” artistic rhetoric.Analyzing rhetoric from the perspective of synonymous means and context, canmake people see the essence of logic that rhetoric contains more clearly. Synonymousmeans are these different forms which have the same basicmeaning but distinguishing rhetorical effects. Rhetoric can be regarded as a processof choosing synonymous means.
