"Tang Yu Lin" is an anecdote-style novel recording the Tang Dynasty scholar anecdotes, which was actually written in the Song Dynasty. It covers a wide range of subjects and has detailed reference materials, possessing great value to learn about the Tang Dynasty’s history, literature and culture. Nowadays, the studies for the "Shi Shuo Xin Yu" in the academic circle have been quite mature and thorough with remarkable achievements. Its continuations and imitations have also been dug and studied to different degrees. However, because of the partial loss of the materials,"Tang Yu Lin" didn’t get its due attention, and its academic study was limited. Scholars are the main characters in "Tang Yu Lin", and the spirit reflected by their behaviors is a leading references for the understanding of Tang Dynasty’s political history and social conduct. Great to see small, it provides reference for the multi-level academic research on the "Tang Yu Lin".As for the study of "Tang Yu Lin", only "the correction for Tang Yu Lin" of Mr. Zhou Xunchu can be regarded as an important book for reference. The concepts for Scholars and intellectual ethos have been inconclusive, and according to the definition of the two by the ancient literary studies, and combined with the characteristics reflected in the test of, the intellectuals ethos reflected in "Tang Yu Lin" are considered to have three aspects:political wind, moral wind and wind of personality. Political winds tends to associate with scholar’s straight expostulation, career concerns and hopes nature for the country’s political; moral wind tend to associate with, the concept of life and death between the society and the family, and the wind of personality is mainly manifested itself scholar’s demeanor and sincere character. The unique features of the scholar’s spirit in "Tang Yu Lin" has a profound cause of formation behind it. The features of the development stage of Tang Dynasty, and the change between the gror and grand occasion, are the vast expanses of land and the rich soil for the formation of scholar’s spirit. The fusion of the Imperial Examination System and the Confucian-Buddhist-Taoist thoughts shapes the spirit and behaviors of scholars, brings the fresh blood ever than. Meanwhile, it influences the selection of the subjects in "Tang Yu Lin" to some extent, as well as the scholar’s spirit it shows.The scholar’s spirit is one in a million in "Tang Yu Lin", also full of rich and powerful flavor of the times. Shi Shuo Xin Yu, the representative of "Shi Shuo" Style, has been widespread and in-depth studied in the afterlife. Additionally, its spirit affects generations of scholars hereafter. When comparing the features of "Tang Yu Lin" and "Shi Shuo Xin Yu", we can find so much commonality."Tang Yu Lin" has a lot of imitation and inheritance after "Shi Shuo Xin Yu". However, both of them have certain differences in three fields, scholars and nature, scholars and legislation, scholars and personality, which is also the cause of the formation of different vegetation in soils of different times, different histories and different cultures. In conclusion, it provides a reference for further research for "Tang Yu Lin" during the study of scholar’s spirit in this paper.
