A Report Of Business Interpreting

Interpreting serves as an important bridge in the international communication and cooperation. Since the WTO accession, China has always been accelerating its pace in entering the world market.Business cooperation is an indispensable part. Under such a situation, business interpreting began to show its importance in the new era.Business interpreting is a type of interpreting which is related with business activities, such as business negotiation, business cooperation, factory visiting, and business contract signing ceremony, business visit and so on. In a word, business interpreting not only shares some common features with other types of interpreting, but also boasts its specific characteristics.As a graduate student of interpreting major, the author has done a lot of interpreting practices in the daily life. Many of them can be described as the business interpreting. Since the author was learning courses and interpreting theories in the campus when doing these practices, it’s convenient for the author to combine theories and practices together. What’s more, the author finds that most papers of business interpreting are try to explain it from the perspective of researchers or scholars, rather than from that of the practitioners. Therefore, in some extend, the author has some advantages in this aspect.At beginning, the author explains the study background, aims, and significances, research methods as well as the structure of the report. In the chapter one, the author describes the interpreting tasks and processes. Chapter two presents problems encountered in the process and corresponding resolutions. The author divides problems into three types, including problems related with interpreters’subjectivity, linguistic problems and unexpected sight interpreting and whispering interpreting. Their corresponding resolutions are maintaining subjectivity, utilizing the interpretative theory and Gile’s effort model flexibility. In the chapter three, the author makes self-evaluation and rethinking after finishing the interpreting task. There are three parts in this chapter, such as the self-improvement, shortcomings and suggestions for the future work and so on. At last, the conclusion part summarizes the major content of the report. By doing so, the author hopes to provide some hints or suggestions for the fresh people who want to engage in the business interpreting and achieve self-improvement in the process of self-evaluation.
