The increasing development drives all the parts of the world interact with each other, sointerpreting plays an essential role in the process. It’s easy to find that cooperation with othercountries sets a high-level platform for interpreters, so interpreters have to do more work infields like politics, economy, business, science and medical care. Interpreting is difficult andprofessional, because it requires the interpreter to express the meaning of the source languageinstantly impromptu and independently. Two profound interpreting theories are prevalentamong interpreters, one is the Interpretive Theory and the other is the Gile’s Effort Model. This time, in light of Gile’s Effort Model, the interpreter divides the interpreting process intotwo phases: first phase is successively listening, analysing, note-taking, short-term memoryand coordination; second phase is successively remembering, note-reading and production. Finally, the interpreter finishes her job successfully. This interpreting report is based on the APEC Press Conference in Hawaii2011. Judgingfrom the content, this material belongs to the category of foreign affairs. Foreign affairinterpreting is keen on the veracity of diction. Moreover, in this press conference, manyreporters bring up questions with different accents. The interpreter should be adaptive to theiraccents in a very short time.Chapter one is the Foreword which introduces us the modern trend of interpreting andsome background information of the video. Chapter two is about the preparation for thisinterpreting activity, such as the theory preparation, the current situation preparation andinterpreter’s mental preparation. Chapter three is case analysis which is the core part of thisreport. In this part, the interpreter describes some solutions of problems she met during theinterpreting process and shows some experience she has got from it. In light of Gile’s Effort Model, the interpreter specifically illustrates some important points, such as listeningcomprehension, note-taking, remembering and expression. Chapter four is the introspectionpart. It includes what the interpreter has learned from this activity and how she feels about it.Chapter five is the final part. The interpreter makes a conclusion about this report.
