This translation practice report is based on the translation homework assigned by my teacher Zhang Xiaojun in the first semester of graduate students. The report is a study of the translation of an English book about space development titled International Cooperation For The Development of Space. I am responsible for the translation of chapter9. This part is mainly about Australian position in space and makes a detailed analysis about the history, development and future of its space industry. The contributor of the whole book is Langdon Morris who is one of the co-founders, as well as the senior partner of the leading global innovation consulting institution——Innovation Labs Company. The author of chapter9is Brett Bilton, the chairman of Australia Aerospace Industry Association. The original text itself is readable in the form of a report which gives a detailed description of Australian space development. This practice report mainly consists of four chapters:the introduction to translation work, the translation process, the translation theories and methods and translation practice summary. The report summarizes the characteristics of scientifical English with regard to words and grammar, studying the theoretical guiding significance of Newmark’s "communicative translation" theory in translation practice, and through the text analysis to find the problems and explore effective methods in the process of transformation in scientifical English.
