Firstly, by enumeratingthe denotations and connotations of “sorrow” with the paraphrase means of linguistics and Chinesephilology, we can know that this “sorrow” is limited in the scope of Chinese classical literature. Secondly, Istudied the meanings of sorrow in larger scope of literature, through taking advantage of graphical andinductive method, the relevant philology and poetry from the school represented by Yuan Zhen and BaiJuyi. Thirdly, I explain what the everlasting sorrow is by dint of the sorrow of Li Longji、Yang Yuhuan andChen Hong.The third chapter explains female views. Appearance and morality are the basic aestheticstandard for females. First of all, I briefly structured biographies, and picked out the description ofappearance and morality which mainly describe females to summarize female anesthetic’s requirements.Then I studied the appearance and morality descriptions about Yang in The Everlasting Sorrow Biography. AS an outstanding Tang biography, The Everlasting Sorrow Biography is unique among thenovels and plays as a connecting link between the preceding and the following.
