Su Shi was one of the most famous writers in the history of Chinese literary. Theachievements of his poetry-writing were very out-standing. There were2758poems inthe book of “Poems of Su Shi”, which was collected by Wang Wenhao, edited by KongFanli and published by Zhonghua Book Company. Besides the poems which were full ofspirit, in the course of Su Shi’s poetry-writing, there were still lots of poems included thecomplex emotions of admiration, imitate Tao Yuan-ming and trying to reply to Tao Yuan-ming. The “Tao Yuan-ming” factor shows varying degrees at various stages of Su Shi’spoetry-writing, and these also constitute a very clear line through all of his poems, fromthe very beginning to the end. This line also shows the liquidity of Su Shi’s poetry style.So, in this article, we will follow this line to discuss how the influence of Tao Yuan-minggoes deeper and deeper in Su Shi’s functionary career and life experiences.The first three chapters of this article will show the stages of his poetry-writing,based onto his life experiences line. From he started to work as a politician to“Wu TaiShi An”, that’s the first stage. In this stage,“Tao Yuan-ming” factor is not as much as hisfollowing work, but those poems has showed the emotion of admiration to Tao Yuan-ming. Therefore, in the first chapter, we will discuss the formation, development anddeepen of Su Shi’s admiration to Tao Yuan-ming through the stady of his life experience,the character of his thought and the number of the poems which are included “Tao Yuan-ming”factor.From Su Shi was banished to Huang Zhou after the “Wu Tai Shi An”, till to hebanished to Ling hai, that’s the the second stage of his life. During this stage, his life wasdeeply frustrated, his official career was blocked. So his mind was changing as well, hestarted to understand the real spirit in Tao Yuan-ming’s, and started to learn from Tao. Inchapter two, we will analyse his harangue during his life back to farming and hisexclusion of official life when he was appointed again from two different times. The firstpart is when Su Shi lived in Huang Zhou and Ru Zhou, and the second part is when hewas went back to the government at Yuanyou Years. We will mainly focus on the styleand the number of his poems which are included “Tao Yuan-ming” factor, to see howthey are related deeply to Tao Yuan-ming’s poems. From he was banished to Ling Hai till the end of his life, this is the third stage of hispoetry-writing. In this stage, Su Shi was suffering again. His attitude towards officercareer and life reach the status of broad-minded empty and exceedingly meaningless. Hewrote lots of “He Tao” poems which are reply to Tao Yuan-ming’s poems. His life wassimilar to Tao Yuan-ming’s. Therefore,in chapter three, we will mainly discuss Su Shi’swriting spirit while he was banished to Ling Hai, and the style of his poems which aregetting closer to Tao Yuan-ming’s style.In Su Shi’s whole life, varies of his work included the “Tao Yuan-ming”factor,especially in his late stage, he wrote “He Tao” poems. Therefore, the forth chapter of thisarticle, we will discuss separately about the reason, the content, the spirit and the artisticcharacteristics of Su Shi’s “He Tao” poems. Then in the fifth chapter, we will concludeabout the similarities and differences about Su Shi and Tao Yuan-mings’ works. We willdiscuss the inhabitation in Su Shi’s poems which are included “Tao Yuan-ming” factorduring he learning from Tao Yuan-ming as well as the differences between Su Shi andTao Yuan-ming.
