There is a new word coming out in2008in China, it is “Copycat”. It is a kind ofbehavior like “imitate”. This behavior appeared in many production areas. Copycat isbecoming popular in the field of television in recent years. But because it’s lack oforiginality, a lot of people including some scholars regard copycat as a behavior offake. However, copycat appeared in today’s society, it is inevitably in close relate tothe social, economy and human culture environment. Copycat is the result of theinteraction of today’s economy, technology, culture and many other factors. It issomewhat reasonable and conforms to the objective law of development of things.With the acceleration of Globalization, the integration of TV plays in every country isbecoming a trend in future.By studying and arranging the behavior of copycat in TV plays, this thesisanalyzed the present situation of Chinese domestic TV plays copycat American’s andalso discussed the problems the Chinese copycat TV plays are facing at the rightmoment. Besides, the reason of the phenomenon of copycat in Chinese domestic TVplays also showed in this thesis. Narrative theory is used to compare Chinesedomestic copycat TV plays to American’s in art creation and culture aspects.The core viewpoint is showed at the end of the thesis: copycat is just a way ofproduction; it’s somewhat useful to Chinese TV plays in development; but it isn’t afinal way of the production of TV plays; Innovation and originality are much moreimportant than copycat in the production of Chinese TV plays.
