With the implementation of curriculum reform of basic education and the advance ofteacher professional development, only research-oriented teacher can meet the needs and thedirection of the teachers’reform. Capability of educational science research, which is the corecompetencies of research-oriented teachers, plays an important part in teachers’ professionalquality. Therefore, some effective measures should be taken to perfect the training mode andexplore ways of capability of educational science research of normal students whose major isEnglish during the academic years.From the perspective of capability of educational science research, this paper researchesthe current situation of capability of educational science research of students majoring inEnglish Education, mainly focus on three questions:1, status survey of capability ofeducational science research of English major in normal university;2, causes analysis ofEnglish students’ weak capability of educational science research;3, strategies ofpromoting the improvement of capability of educational science research of normal students.First, this paper proposed the meaning of capability of educational science research inEnglish education students according to the study and conclusion of existing literature.Second, by questionnaire survey, interview and case study English research, we found thatEnglish Education students got imbalanced developed in research consciousness, knowledgeand achievements. Therefore, some analysis and case study research has been done to theproblems during their education experience to eliminate their fears to the educational scienceactivities, to establish research teams and guide them to learn the routine of educationalresearch.Finally, combing the conclusion and existing achievement, we proposed several advicesto improve the capability of educational science research, including enforce the constructionof English knowledge and skills to improve the professional quality; increase someeducational curriculum to develop their practical ability; and the normal school shouldprovide some research platform to the normal students. We also highlight the construction ofnormal students, in-service teachers and normal schools to enhance the initial teachers’educational research ability.
