After the Meiji restoration, under the slogan of new army, the Japanese government onthe path of the foreign aggression, and formulated the "mainland policy". The goal is based onthe invasion of north Korea and China, attempt to dominate east Asia and the world.1931,Japan ultimately launched the Mukden Incident, occupying the northeast of China andgradually encroaching on other areas of China. From the evolution in Japan’s policy towardsChina, it is not difficult to conclude that Japan adopted a jingoism policy from MukdenIncident to the signing of the Tang Gu Agreement. Afterwards, until the full-blown of theHuabei Accident, Japan adopted “separation-approved, force-complementary” policy towardsChina. Before Japan’s withdrawal from the the League of Nations, China and Japan were boththe founding members. However, after the Mukden Incident, Japan’s occupying the northeastof China, establishing the Manchukoku and exerting pressure upon the League of Nations, undoubtedly put strain on the Sino-Japanese relations. But the League of Nations did not takeeffective measures.Defying and trampling against the international regulations, Japan apparently breaks theinternational conventions. Confronted with the censure from other countries and theintroduction of the international Investigators’ Report, Japan withdrew the League of Nationsat any expense and continued to conduct its arms expansion and the war preparationrecklessly, causing the chaos and rampage of the international order. This year also witnessedthe intensive explosion of the deteriorated Sino-Japanese relations.Based on the previous researches, on the basis of the research model combining thehistorical perspective and the international relations studies, this dissertation probes into theSino-Japanese relations during the time span from1931to1935with the League of Nationsacting as the medium.
