As the first and most important institution in Modern Japan engaged in the cultural work of students studying in Japan, the Japan-China Academic Committee(1918-1959)played the role of the "gateway" for modern Chinese to study in Japan. As a peripheral organization of the Japanese Ministry of foreign affairs,it is a representative institution in Japan engaged in the cultural work of students studying in Japan. Therefore,in the process of thinking about the history of modern Chinese studying in Japan and the history of modern Sino-Japanese relations, the Japan-China Academic Committee is an important investigation object that can-not be ignored. However, the research period of the existing research focuses on the period from 1918 to 1945.Although there is a macro-overview of the Japan-China Academic Committee, the accumulation of empirical research on specific activities is not sufficient. Moreover, there is little attention to the Japan-China Academic Committee after the war,and there is a lack of through research. So far, there has been no research monograph on the Japan-China Academic Committee in the academic circles.Compared with the East Asia Common Culture College and Colleagues Association, which are also Japan’s cultural working groups for China, the importance of the Japan-China Academic Committee has not been paid enough attention,so it is necessary and valuable for further research. This study is based on the perspective of Chinese researchers, takes the empirical textual research method of history, takes dialectical materialism and historical materialism as the theoretical basis of the research, and through a large number of excavation, induction and sorting,multi-party comparison and discrimination of the original materials,is committed to making a continuous investigation on the process of the Japan-China Academic Committee from prewar to postwar(1918 ~ 1959),Break through the previous fragmented research methods, and even completely ignore the postwar research methods. At the same time, other cultural working groups of Chinese students studying in Japan, which merged the East Asia revitalization Association, the Oriental women’s Education Association, the Greater East Asia Student Dormitory, the Greater East Asia Students’ Association in Japan and the Japan-China Academic Committee in 1945 into the newly established "the Japan-China Association",also included in the research field of vision. In this way,it tries to comprehensively present the pattern and activities of the organization of the cultural work of students studying in Japan under the wartime system. At the same time, clarify the characteristics of various groups and their relationship with the Japan-China Academic Committee, provide a research method from a comparative perspective for the research of the Japan-China Academic Committee, and ensure the comprehensiveness and integrity of the research of the Japan-China Academic Committee. In the first chapter, through the investigation of the Japanese social and ideological background, personnel composition, career map and activities in China during the founding period of the Japan-China Academic Committee,it is clear that the establishment of the Japan-China Academic Committee is the result of the confluence of various forces in Japan’s industrial, political and educational circles driven by the thought of "Japan support goodwill".Moreover, through the introduction and further analysis of the career map of the Japan-China Academic Committee,it provides a basis for the later discussion. In addition, through the opening and close reading of "documents and materials related to Takahashi Kunping of the Japan-China Academic Committee ",this paper explores the activities of the Japan-China Academic Committee in China that have not been paid attention to in the past,as well as the editorial details of Japan-China journal,so as to deepen the understanding of the Japan-China Academic Committee from these newly discovered topics. The second chapter mainly discusses that after the outbreak of the September 18 th Incident, the Japan-China Academic Committee violated the original intention of "not involving political diplomacy",submitted the management plan for the puppet Manchukuo students in Japan to the Ministry of foreign affairs of Japan at the first time, and adopted an attitude of actively approaching Japan’s national policy.Subsequently, during the SinoJapanese comprehensive war,the Japanese government designated the Japan-China Academic Committee and East Asian schools as the "officially designated receiving institutions" for students studying in Japan in the enemy occupied areas.During this period, the Japan-China Academic Committee will give full play to its function as the "gateway for Chinese people to study in Japan",and comprehensively upgrade the previous work of students studying in Japan in order to cooperate with the Japanese government’s wartime cultural policy towards China.Through the comparison and mutual verification between the relevant records in the Journal of Japan and China and the relevant materials in China, this paper explains in detail the actions of the Japan-China Academic Committee during the Japanese War of aggression against China. The third chapter is based on the historical fact that in 1945,seven groups, including the Japan-China Academic Committee, the East Asia revitalization Association, the Oriental women’s Education Association, the Greater East Asia Students’ Union in Japan, the Greater East Asia Student Dormitory, the Oriental nationalities Association and the temporary headquarters of the guidance for students studying in Japan of the Republic of China, were integrated into the newly established consortium legal person Japan-China Association in the form of dissolution, focusing on the creation background and specific composition of the Japan-China Association, and the Oriental women’s Education Association and other cultural working groups for Chinese students studying in Japan have been brought into the research field of vision. While explaining the characteristics of each group, they pay attention to exploring the relationship between various groups. It is concluded that the birth of the JapanChina Association in 1945 can actually be seen as the process of mutual integration between the Japan-China Academic Committee and the East Asia revitalization Association, the Oriental women’s Education Association, the Greater East Asia Student Union in Japan and other groups,so that the Japan-China Academic Committee and the Japan-China association can actually be seen as the relationship of "you have me,I have you".The fourth chapter,by exploring and using the historical materials of the postwar JapanChina Academic Committee,on the premise of taking the medium and long period from prewar to wartime to postwar(1918-1959)as the research scope, comes to the conclusion that the name of the " Japan-China Academic Committee " was restored to the name of the "Japan-China Academic Committee " in 1955 after the war. After the war,the Japan-China Academic Committee was mainly committed to assisting the Japanese government’s "cultural diplomacy" and "economic diplomacy" policies and helping the reconstruction of Japan after the war, which once again reflected the diplomatic function of the Japan-China Academic Committee as a special institution. However, due to the persistence of the non-normalization of Sino-Japanese relations under the cold war system, the lack of funds for their own activities, the noncooperation of other schools and groups and other reasons, the Japan-China Academic Committee merged with the international Alumni Association in 1959,and finally went to the fate of natural extinction. While completing the combing of the whole process from the birth to the demise of this important institution, this study uses the Japan-China Academic Committee as a perspective to explore the characteristics and circumstances of Chinese students in Japan in different periods, and deepen the understanding of the complex and changeable relationship between China and Japan.
