| Buddhism plays a tremendous role on every aspects of the society. However, there arerelatively few studies about the family life of Buddhist believers. Based on the research ofthe family life of Buddhist believers, we can understand the current status and theinfluence of the development of Buddhism, which has enlightenment significance tounderstand the Buddhism correctly and promote the development of the family and thecommunity.This thesis chooses to analysis from the microcosmic point of view, selecting theBuddhist believers of Zichuan District as the object of investigation. With the family life ofthe Buddhist believers as research object, this paper studies on the relationship of theBuddhist and the believers’family life from the perspective of sociology.In filial piety life, the Buddhist believers can support and wait upon their parentspersistently without letup, they also persuade their parents believe in Buddhism. Moreover,they can reflect on their own behavior which doesn’t conform to the filial piety of Buddhistethics. In marriage, the Buddhist believers hope their partners to understand and supporttheir Religious beliefs. Although believers confront many frictions and conflicts in theirmarriage, they still strive to show their restraint and tolerance, in accordance with therequirements of religious doctrine. In family life, believers adopt a variety of measures toeducate their children. They also make a choice about whether or not their children learnBuddhism according to the actual situation.There are two distinctive features in Buddhist believers’ life. First and foremost,believers cognize and insist their roles as Buddhist. Secondly, believers utilize Buddhistdiscipline to regulate their own daily family life. Thirdly, when believers encounter someaffairs which they are incapable of dealing with, they often pray for the help oftranscendent power.Buddhism has two effects in the family life of believers. Buddhism exerts a positiveinfluence on the family life of believers. Buddhism is able to adjust the believers’mentalityand foster their character. Buddhism also can moderate believers’ family conflicts andmaintain the stability of their family, and then promote social harmony. At the same time,there also exists dysfunction between Buddhism and believers’ family life. Aiming at thefunctional disorders, communication between the believers and their family membersshould be enhanced. On the other hand, the family members should give each other understanding and tolerance to maintain the balance of family, so as to maintain theharmony and stability of society. |
