Teenagers often encounter a social dilemma as an individual in the society. How can we encourage them to seek cooperation in a social dilemma is a problem which was commonly concerned by sociologists, economists and psychologists. Based on previous researches, the main purpose of this paper is to make a more systematic explanation about individual differences and situational factors in a social dilemma using the goal expectation theory. This paper used laboratory simulation experiments to prove our hypotheses by investigating sixty-six senior high school students, and explore the effect of social value orientation(SVO) and game types on cooperative behavior of individuals in social dilemma. In addition, we discuss the relationship between the level of trust, group identity and cooperative behavior of individuals. The conclusions are as follows:a) Social value orientation and game type have played a significant role in cooperating behavior, trust level and group identity level. Specifically, pro-socials have more cooperating behavior, higher trust level and group identity than pro-selves, and individuals have more cooperating behavior, higher trust level and group identity in selected-play situation than in forced-play situation.b) The interaction between social value orientation and game typs has a combined effect on the game’s contribution, A selected-play situation can significantly increases the pro-socials’ cooperative behavior, while this impact is not significant among pro-selves.c) The interaction between social value orientation and game typs has a combined effect on individuals’ trust level, A selected-play situation can significantly increases the pro-socials’ trust level, while this impact is not significant among pro-selves.d) The interaction between social value orientation and game types has a combined effect on individuals’ group identity level, A selected-play situation can significantly increases the pro-selves’ group identity level, while this impact is not significant among pro-socials.e) For pro-socials, the trust level towards partner significantly affects the cooperative behavior in a social dilemma. While for pro-socials, this effect is not significant.f) For pro-selves, the group identity level towards partner significantly affects the cooperative behavior in a social dilemma. While for pro-socials, this effect is not significant. |
