| A hospital’s promo video is important for cultivating its image, making its brandand deepen its social influence. Moreover, with the door opened to the outside world,more and more foreigners come to China, resulting in the importance of translatinghospital’s promo video. Currently, there are many studies on publicity materials aswell as its translation, but few are specially aimed at the translation of hospital’spromo video. That’s the significance of this report and the reason I choose thissubject.This translation practice report is based on my task of translating the script ofthe promo video for Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital. It consists of four parts:introduction, task process description, case analysis and conclusion, among whichthe case analysis part is the essence of this report. Taking the translated version ofthe script of the promo video for Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital as materials, it,firstly, conducts an analysis about the classification of problems confronted in thetranslation process, namely, syntactic differences, different modes of thinking, andthe unique characteristics of promo video. In order to deal with these difficulties, theauthor, under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence, employscorresponding translation methods flexibly, such as conversion of voice, addition ofimplied information, omission of repeated information, and linear translation. Thisreport, in a certain degree, has some significance for future study on translation ofhospital’s promo video, but undeniably, there still exist some limitations. |
