Documentary Film Oceans Ecological Aesthetic Dimension

Abstract:The documentary film Oceans is the masterpiece of French director Jacques Perrin. It caused strong repercussions since it has been released on "World Earth Day" in2010, which also be referred to as "twinkling non-utilitarian and sincerity of Kant’s throughout". This dissertation takes the movie Oceans for example, to discuss the dimensionality of ecological aesthetics. The opinion is to build the affinity between human and nature, open and enlighten people to move towards nature, get close to nature, blend in nature, and develop in accordance with the laws of nature, in order to achieve the harmony between human and nature.This dissertation has been divided into four parts. Chapter1is introduction of the background of Ecological documentary film, the basic information and the research status of the documentary film Oceans. Chapter2focuses on the movie, constructs the ecological aesthetic view by "beauty of harmony, beauty of life and beauty of art". Chapter3expounds the speciality of the ecological aesthetic view of Oceans, which contains the combination of nature beauty and humanity beauty, the equal of reality and story, the coexistence of life and art. Chapter4uses comparative view to discuss the reference and guidance of Oceans to Chinese documentary filmThe harmonious relationship between human and nature is the point of penetration for the fusion of documentary film and ecological aesthetics culture. The fusion of both not only promotes the inherent contain of philosophy and aesthetics of the film, but also has huge practical significance of maintaining the harmonious and freedom realm about human and nature, human and society, human and themselves. Oceans not only gives us an acousto-optic spectacle about self-reflection, but also built the model for documentary film, provides the art sample of ecological aesthetics, shows how to reach the multi-win of ideological level, artistic quality and transmission level. This is also what needs to be explored of current Chinese documentary film.
