On The Style Transformation Between Translation And Interpretation From The Comparison Between Translation And Interpretation

The thesis makes a brief introduction to the development of translation and interpretation, and the talent training of translation and interpretation. Then the author puts forward a phenomenon that the students of translation or interpretation only administer their own business without learning from each other. However, there will be a situation that an interpreter will be assigned to do some translation tasks, which is called one person acts two roles at the same tine in practice. The practical situation may increase the difficulty and form obstruction to the students who are going to work after graduation from universities. Therefore, the transformation of style between translation and interpretation is selected as the objective of the thesis on the basis of the comparison between translation and interpretation. The study is conducted from the perspective of functional equivalence put forward by Nida. The idea was that the translator should translate so that the effect of the translation on the target reader is roughly the same as the effect of the source text once was on the source reader.In the thesis, some different research conclusions and theories are adopted to contrastively explore the definitions, processes, modes and features of translation and interpretation. Then, the author makes his own conclusion. Later the similarities and differences between translation and interpretation are analyzed. Through the comparison between translation and interpretation, the transformation of style is elicited in the end.Through this study, the author finds out that translation can be the base of interpretation and the ability of translation can affect the development of interpreters. Though they share some principles that are always accepted and digested in translation, those principles are usually developed and innovated in the process of interpretation. Transformation of style between translation and interpretation can be conducted on the basis of taking advantage of spoken language and written language, adjusting the structure of sentence and adopting different skills.The significance of the study is to provide a clearer picture of the differences and connections between translation and interpretation so that the interpreter can find a balance point between translation and interpretation to make full use of them to achieve the goal of transforming style smoothly. Since the one can act two roles at the same time, the competence can be enhanced.
