This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the first and secondchapters of Reflections on Translation in Action by Susan Bassnett. In the first chapterthe author used a large number of examples to prove the differences betweenlanguage and identity of translation and the impact of culture. The second chaptermainly discusses the choice of literal translation and free translation methods. Theauthor uses a wealth of detailed materials supporting the importance of interculturalcommunication.In the report, the author first introduces the background of text, influence of thebook, and then analyses the type of the text. Secondly, the preparation beforetranslation, related translation theory and strategies are illustrated. The forth part is theanalyzing of the case.The last part is the translation report, mainly talks aboutproblems and the insufficiency in the translation and guiding significance fortranslation practice.Report shows that translation activity is involved in many fields and thecross-cultural communication. Translators need an overall understanding of theEnglish and Chinese language, master the different translation strategies andtranslation skills. |
