The author’s translation project is excerpted from10Good Questions about Lifeand Death, by British philosopher Christopher Belshaw. It was published in2005.Christopher Belshaw is an advanced philosopher instructor, a liberal arts teachingassistant in many open universities and has many philosophy works. This book is alsoa philosophy work. It tells us many philosophies about life and death by askingquestions, such as: Is life sacred? Is it bad to die? Might I live on? and so on. Afterreading this book, the author can think over our own life. The author of this project chose two chapters from the book as for the author’stranslation project. They are Is life sacred (chapter2) and Is It Bad to Die (chapter3).In these two chapters, the author of the original book tells us his understanding of thesequestions and also gives readers some space to think of these questions. After finishingthe translating, the author wrote a report, in which the author reviewed the translationprocess, analyzed difficulties I met and proposed solutions based on the translationtheory and skills such as understanding in translating, essentials of syntactic strategiesin translating and expression in translating, and then wrote out the author’s thoughts.
