In recent years, the ego identity development of college students has become a hot issue of domestic scholars and scholars concerned with mental health. This thesis chooses the methods of quantitative research methods. This research use empirical analysis of the development of self-identity status of engineering students. Through the use of "self identity status scale" and "self identity crisis scale" This study selected400freshmen of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology to an analysis the development of ego identity. The conclusion is as follows:This research will choose365students from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology Freshman as questionnaire survey. All of the participants are from College of light industry and energy, School of materials science and engineering, College of life science and engineering, and the College of resources and environment. We research the development of self-identity of these students and investigate the development of self-identity status and characteristics. Conclusions are as follows:The first, Professional disciplines of different college students will not have much impact on the development of self-identity. The four colleges have no significant differences on ego identity status distribution and self identity crisis.The second, The gender factor have a certain impact on the development of self-identity of engineering students in the self same measurements of differences in the total score, the boys and girls although no significant difference, but the girls score higher than boys in the future investment. In the distribution of ego identity status in different gender have no significant changes. In the self identity crisis distribution, there are significant differences between different gender, especially in self awareness, self confident and authority confusion on three levels with higher degree of confusion.The third, The differences between city and country have a certain impact on the development of self-identity of engineering students. At each scale self identity scores, there are significant differences between different sources of students, in three dimensions, rural students score higher than the city students. There are no significant differences in the distribution of ego identity status in. In the self identity crisis distribution, students of different gender has significant differences in the total score of crisis, but also in the sense of self and self assurance on two aspects of the high degree of confusion.The fourth, Different family background influence the development and Engineering Freshmen self identity in a certain extent. At each scale self identity and difference score, there are significant differences between different family background, In three dimensions, non only students are slightly higher than that of only child students. In the self identity crisis distribution, there are significant differences between students of different family background crisis, and in the two aspects of time perspective and value orientation of higher degree of confusion.According to the research conclusions above, this study on the promotion of ego identity development and engineering freshmen from three angles of different sex, different family background differences between urban and rural areas. We put forward the following suggestions:(1) We should pay attention to gender differences to promote the development of self-identity and engineering freshmenFirst, guide the female college students to correctly recognize and evaluate themselves, strengthen their self-confidence.Second, the elimination of social employment.Third, teach effective strategies to cope with the pressure of female college students, guide them to a dialectical view of success and failure.(2) We should pay attention to differences between urban and rural areas to promote the development of self-identity and engineering freshmen.First, guide the rural students a correct understanding of poverty.Second, guide the rural students self realization of the scientific positioningThird, create a harmonious interpersonal environment.(3) We should focus on the family situation difference to promote the development of self-identity and Engineering Freshmen. First, improve the education of their behavior.Second, pay attention to the educational level of parents or occupation of lower status of College Students.Third, pay attention to the self identity development of non only child college studentsAccording to the research conclusion, We promote the development of self-identity and engineering students, must pay attention to the gender, hometown, family self affect the same development of engineering students, provide theoretical guidance for college students to strengthen the psychological education and ideological education.
