| The tourism, with its rapid development, has contributed much to thedevelopment of national economy. A great deal of value has been attached to thestudies and researches of tourism by many states and districts due to a clearunderstanding that the prosperity of tourism is quite important for the flourish ofeconomy. For this case, this translation project report choses Dimensions of Tourism, asocial science book written by Joseph D. Fridgen, as the source language text fortranslation and analysis. Based on the translation and analysis of Chapter6“EconomicDimensions†and Chapter7“Environmental Dimensionsâ€, this report, on the one hand,tries to show the reader a clear and objective view of the industry of tourism from asocial science perspective, and on the other hand, study how to do translation underthe guidance of Skopostheorie and verify the feasibility and reasonableness of thistheory. Besides, provide experiences and lessons for future translation practices andresearches.This report can be divided into four parts. Part1introduces the translationproject, including background, target, and significance of it. Part2analyzes the sourcelanguage text, including the writer, content, and characters of language. Part3is theprocess of translation, including difficulties of translation, strategies and methods thathave been adopted. Part4is the last part, which summarizes experience and problemsthat remain unsolved. |
