The thesis is a report about prose translation. Since the genre of the source text is prose and its main characteristic is free in structure but clear in thought, it is difficult to translate. The source text Something about Soul not only contains formal literary genre including poems and songs but also mingles with the author’s personal feelings and his special cultural background. As for the report, besides dealing with the arrangement of the translation work, it mainly analyzes the problems in the translation process and the strategies to them.Through the analysis and preparation before translating, the report analyzes the writer and source text to confirm the tone and the translation difficulties of the original text. Also, the translators make the arrangement of the tasks, and then settle down their tasks and the schedule of translation as well as the inspection plan.Due to the limit of the report’s length, in the part of case study, it only chooses some typical cases to analyze and to expound the methods and techniques for solving these problems. In addition, the poems and the songs in the source text would be analyzed as a whole independently.By translating Something about Soul, it is proved that the translation work can not be completed by one step but needs to be proofread for many times under the direction of the translation techniques.
