From the French film artists obsessed with novel film to Chinese dramafascinated by adaptation of quality literature,it has a long history that movies and TVdramas are adapted from novels. Nowadays, Classic contemporary novels and TVdramas are making joint development. They appear on the TV screen of manyfamilies constantly. But as two kinds of art,novel and TV dramas are differentmedium, so, misreading is inevitable at the transformation form the art of writing tothe art of seeing and hearing. Aesthetic mechanism and the effect of expression willbe changed accordingly. They have many similarities by taking the narration as thebasic point.Yan Geling, the famous Chinese female writer has had their novels adaptationsince1990s. Her name became hot from her first novel, which was adapted into a TVdrama in2006, and her other novels also become hot too. In view of this phenomenon,this paper analyzes the same and different of Yan Geling’s novel and adapted into TVseries mainly from three aspects:The first chapter from the aspects of narrativecontent research the narrative strategies by using the theory of cross-media narration—Let the ordinary people and the legendary looking for each other; The secondchapter, analysis of the inheritance and changes of shaping the female characterswritten by Yan Geling from the angle of narration and feminist theory; The thirdchapter from the perspectives of cross media adaptation, research the development ofthe characteristic by the creation from novel to film and television. Then the limits ofcontemporary novels’ adaption are put forward and reflected.
