In the Late Qing Dynasty,the anti-church cases rose one after another.The basic pointof view of this paper is the conflict between people and church roots in the churchoffending all kinds of spaces of Sichuan society as a strange object.The paper will choosecontention for belief space,power space and living space between the church and localpeople to discuss.The paper consists of four chapters:Introduction:Analyse research purport of the selected topic,review study history ofthe topic, and at last,claim innovation and writing conception of this paper.Chapter one:Sichuan society and the church broke in as a stranger.This is thebackground of Sichuan anti-church cases.It will introduce Sichuan rural society fromregionalism, ruling by rites, no litigation three aspects,and then focus on the developmentof Christian missionary activities in Sichuan,at last, expound the Christian Church causedthe conflict and anti-church casea as a strange space.Chapter two:the Christianity and contention for belief space in Sichuan.Confucianethics is Chinese traditional value system,but Christian has a completely different beliefsystem.They had great diffirence in traditional ethics, religious belief, play customs,butthey were not likely to compromise.Therefore, the religious conflict has become one of themost important reasons for Sichuan anti-church cases.Chapter three:the Christian Church and contention for power space in Sichuan.Thesquire were in the key position connecting the upper and the lower,they were highlythought of by dominator and had the power of grass-roots society governance certainly.Butthe missionaries’s power expended step by step, challenged the authority of the squire,alsocaused reaction of people led by the squire,Qianjiang Case was the most typical.Chapter four:the Christian Church and contention for living space in Sichuan.Thetraditional China was an agricultural country, and land was the fundamental.Missionariescame to China, grabbed land by returning church, buying, renting and other means.In thepremises of the land resources limited, impacted the economic chain dominated by thesquire,and also compressed people’s living space who lived by land. The last section:On this basis,the paper will get a brief historical experience that onlyrespect for the freedom of belief, practise church "three self" principle, can we create afavorable environment for construction of the state.
