The Cultural And Languages Comparison Of Thai And Chinese Edioms

Different culture reflects the characteristics of different countries. Language is one ofthe best tools to reflect the national culture. It makes people better understand the culturalbackground and social behavior of the country. In other words, language and culture are thecombination and cannot separate to each other. In order to learn a language, learning thepronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar only is not enough. The learners must understandand grasp the unique culture of the country also. Only truly understanding the culture of thecountry, the learner will be able to understand and use the language in a better way.The idiom is the special composition of language that can reflect the culture of eachcountry. Regard less the nationality, when people want to communicate, idiom is a must to use.The author chooses the topic of “The Cultural and Languages Comparison of Thai andChinese Edioms” to analyze the similarity and differences of the language and culture of theidioms between two countries. The main sources of the content in this thesis came from thebooks called “Chinese Idioms Dictionary” and “Thai Idioms Dictionary”. This thesis isdivided into six parts. The first part is mainly focused on the definition of Chinese and Thaiidioms, and will also explain the objective and scope of the research. The second part mainlyintroduces the origin, similarity, and differences of Chinese and Thai idioms. The third partcompares the use of Chinese and Thai idioms which will be divided into three aspects:pronunciation, grammar structure, and rhetoric. The fourth part is the comparison of culturalfactors between Chinese and Thai idioms. The fifth part is the analysis of the common errorsand mistakes of Thai students in the process of learning Chinese language. Last but not least,the sixth part is the conclusion of this thesis.This thesis will help Thai student to better understand and use of Chinese idioms, andalso be the references for those readers who are interested in Chinese and Thai idioms.
