The author is one of the volunteer Chinese teacher who dispatched abroad byHanban to undertake the Chinese teaching task and spread Chinese culture inConfucius Institute. This paper, based on one year experience of the author as avolunteer Chinese teacher in Mexico, with a survey of campus culture and theclassroom culture of Mexico.The survey finds that the campus culture in Mexico mainly influenced byEuropean and American culture, the students concerned more about individualdevelopment. They have a more active classroom atmosphere, varied assessmentmethods. Based on all above, this paper offers a series of strategies for Chineseteachers, including: A)Clear our teaching objectives; B)Multiple training;C)Innovative teaching methods; D)Enhance knowledge of Chinese. According to thecross-cultural life survey of Chinese volunteers,the principal obstacle of adaptationis language but in the meanwhile volunteers believe that they have gotten socialsupport when living in Mexico.Finally, the survey also cites the case of cross-cultural communication andanalysis them. To explore cross-cultural communication strategies and to design someprograms to promote cultural adaptation is necessary.This paper attempts to helpimprove the capability of adoption when Chinese volunteer teachers begin their livingin Latin America, also makes some contributions in Chinese international education.
