Research On The Documentary Program "Homeland Dreamland"

In December2010, CCTV-4launched a human-geography documentary program,Homeland Dreamland. After the initial adjustment and exploration, the program hasproduced three seasons of hundred sets of large film series. They are frontier line,coast line,30degrees of north latitude in China. It used the camera to lead theaudience to explore the motherland’s great scenery, to taste different cuisines, to learna variety of traditional culture, to focus on people’s livelihood and the development ofthe society. It shapes our national image successfully. After frontier line wasbroadcasted, its ratings continued to climb. It won the support and the recognition ofdomestic and international audiences.After the foundation of New China, the spread of documentary has come a longway. The change of the media and the market system all played a significant impacton the development of the documentary. With the deepening of our motherland’scultural system, domestic documentaries entered a new period of vigorousdevelopment. CCTV also officially opened the dedicated documentary channel in2011. It provides a better platform for the development of the documentary in China.The research of Homeland Dreamland is few though it has been a successfuldocumentary program. Its successful various factors should be worthy of our attentionand study.This article will use Homeland Dreamland as the research object. I will use theCase Analysis Method and Documental Analysis to analyze creative ideas, productdesigning, narrative strategy and the images, sound, camera of frontier line, coast line,30degrees of north latitude in China. I hope that I can make a clear, systematicanalysis of this program. The advantages and disadvantages of the program will besummed up and then to grasp the key to its success. It can make up for the lack of theresearch information about the program. At the same time, it also can provide a usefulreference for the development of similar documentaries.
