This interpreting simulation (maybe semi-simulation is more precise) report on JacoPastorius―Modern Electric Bass‖is based on the video clip subtitle translation practice ayear ago. Nowadays, music related international cultural exchange is enjoying a boom,one can observe it from a host of music festivals, forums and TV programs. Since thetranslation and interpreting practice on music field in China is still in its beginning stage,and the research on this theme is not very ample, nevertheless, with the rapid economicdevelopment and demand for cultural construction of China, there is an urgent need tobroaden the related studies. For this reason, this report, after conducting and analyzingthe interpreting simulation of the80minutes long interview in the video, is aimed toprovide some examples, good or bad, on the background, interpreting preparation,interpreting problems and the five main methods used in the simulation, such assegmentation, reconstruction, paraphrase, guessing, abandon, etc. With a purpose of this,the report might contribute a thing or two to the literature tank on music or interpretingsimultaneously, or, at least, share some experience with those similar practices in thefuture.
