Cao Yu is a master of modern Chinese drama, his major drama are"Thunderstorm""Sunrise""Wilderness" and so on. Not much of his life writing, buthis drama is to win with quality. Cao Yu’s success is the result of his exploring ofhumanity, on the life assurance, but also more from his profound cultural background.An excellent dramatist must be inherit their own traditional culture and absorbforeign culture, it must be good at from the perspective of human nature, understandand integrate the culture, he is a cultural explorer, is also the creator of a new culture.Due to a good family, Cao Yu can touch the earliest books of traditional Chineseculture and new culture progress books in early time, he also can receive schooleducation, to receive the western advanced culture, so that make his drama have amore open vision, Cao Yu’s dramas have absorbed the essence of China traditionalculture, study the western dramas’creation skills, overcome the earlydramas’weakness, make the the Chinese drama mature.Cao Yu’s dramas showed the rich and profound cultural meaning to us. Cao Yucreated a series of rich and unique characters in his masterpiece "Thunderstorm""Sunrise""Wilderness""Peking Man" and so on. Cao Yu’s early dramas explore thehumam nature from a cultural perspective, showing the conflict of human life andethical moral principles, aspire to the original life, pursuit the spirit freedom, at thesame time, in the face of the unfortunate fate, demonstrate the author’s redemption,compassion, love and other religious culture. However, after the liberation, becauseof the cultural environment changes and also the lack of independent personality ofthe intellectuals, Cao Yu’s aesthetic changed obviously.
